Letter, 1766 July 4, Pine Tree Hill, S.C., [to] Thomas Farr, Clerk of the Commons House of Assembly, S.C.

Letter, 4 July 1766 [Kershaw County, S.C.] transmitting accounts of expenses arising from the apprehension and transfer of certain felons to jail in Pine Tree Hill [after 1769, settlement known as Camden], and noting "the number of rogues dayly increase & without some encoragement for apprehending [them] is given, I expect they'l[l] make some further attempts to disturb the repose of the Country." Letter includes names of 7 prisoners, and lists the travel required after apprehension to deliver them to authorities in Pine Tree Hill; distances listed range from 125-160 "computed miles"; prisoners include "Rob[er]t Johnston taken at Nelson's Ferry," Tho[ma]s Moon, Derrick Manning, George Black, and others.
